I am happy to connect with you!

winter special

Last year a part of each sale of my art prints went to the City of Joy - a transformational leadership community for women survivors of violence, located in Bukavu, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

This year I will make a donation to ILGA Portugal Association – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Intervention. It is the largest and oldest association that fights for equality and against discrimination against LGBTI+ people and their families in Portugal.

This year, while looking for the right organisation, a dear friend of mine mentioned ILGA Portugal Association and shared about the great work they are doing. This friend is a doula and social worker in Portugal and has participated in a training program facilitated by ILGA. This gave her a close insight to their programs and I am very happy I get to learn about their work through her too.

Here is what they say about themselves:

Founded in 1995, the main objective of the ILGA Portugal Association is the social integration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex population and their families in Portugal through a broad program of support in the social sphere that guarantees the improvement of their quality of life; through the fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender expression and identity and sexual characteristics; and, through the promotion of citizenship, human rights and gender equality.

It is a national organization, whose headquarters are in Lisbon, and which integrates, at national level, the Advisory Board of the Committee for Citizenship and Gender Equality and the Technical Monitoring Committee of PAIOEC.

At European level, it was the first Portuguese organization to integrate the Platform for Fundamental Rights of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, in addition to being a member of the ILGA-Europe Advocacy Network and being a founding member of the Network of European LGBT Families Association (NELFA).

Internationally, we are a member of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA), of Transgender Europe (TGEU), of the Organization Intersex International Europe (OII-Europe), of InterPride, of the European Pride Organizers Association (EPOA) and a correspondent for the Day International for the Fight against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT).

For more info you can visit their (Portuguese) website or send me an email.

Check out my drawings in my online art shop.

With your order you automatically support ILGA. Thank you so much!
